Application/Nomination

All faculty members are welcomed to nominate talents to the Head of EMIA by sending the CV of the nominee(s) to ttfhsearch@ust.hk. The Steering Committee will review nominations and invite shortlisted candidates to submit their applications via the Faculty Recruitment System.

Advertisement will also be posted to invite applications from potential candidates outside HKUST.

Nominations/Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Review Process

Individual ad hoc Search and Appointments Committee (“Search Committee”) shall be appointed for individual candidates, following the guideline in AP10.0 Section 6.2 except that members are appointed on ad hoc basis from within or outside the Division according to the discipline of the targeted hiring. For joint appointments with a certain Department/Division from other Schools, members from that Department/Division will be invited to be the co-opted members to the ad hoc Search Committee. All ad hoc Search Committees shall be appointed by the EMIA Head with endorsement by the Steering Committee.

Substantiation-track appointments applicable to appointments to the rank of Professor or Associate Professor with substantiation shall go through another review by the Divisional Substantiation and Promotion Committee (“S&P Committee”) as required by the University’s policy in AP10.0 Section 6.1.

After the recommendation of the Search Committee, and the S&P Committee if applicable, the recruitment process follows the normal appointment procedure respective to the relevant rank of the application.

Joint Appointment

The faculty members appointed in EMIA are encouraged to have joint appointments with appropriate departments/divisions of other Schools, which can be 0% or non-0%. The joint appointment can be processed after the recruitment is completed in EMIA by consultation and agreement with the department/division and School concerned through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
